Art Education For Children - Teaching Them Art Early

from: www.parentingexposed.com

Children love activities that involve their physical and mental motors. They reap not just learning in those kinds of activities but also enjoyment as well. Kids also are usually not monochromatic. Meaning they are not fond of dull and singled out colours. They find a kaleidoscope of colours more interesting than a single colour.

Children are very much into finding the creativeness in them. They would open up a toy and then later on fix it all by themselves. Discovering coordination in their body is another thing that keeps them happy.

Those characteristics discovered in a child suggest that art is the best for them. Art making is an activity that will be surely be enjoyed by children. By doing art you can possibly integrate anything or learning that must be taught to a child.

Art is not limited to visual works but also to mental and physical works. Meaning, when you say art, it does not just involve drawing, painting, collages and photography only. It may also include music, carving, and dancing. Art as a whole may be considered as an activity that will help develop a child’s capability to respond to their surroundings.

There are also sectors that use art as a form of expression. Holistically speaking, music is used to share ones thoughts to another. In other places, dances are used to communicate with the spirits. Paintings are used to connote something that was experienced by the artist. Most psychologists use painting or drawing to learn about the personality of a certain patient. Sometimes they also use these form of art to discover the past of their patients. They believe that the lines and the curves and whatever they put onto the piece of paper have something to say to the situation of the patient before. They are also related to the personality she has.

Art for kids are not just for fun or just as a plain pastime. It is a way where a child can express herself and learn to socialize with other children. This can also be their way of practicing their muscles in order to have stronger body. All in all, art may help your child build up the confidence he will need in facing the world.

You may always teach art even if you are at home. It can be done in several ways. One is by means of direct teaching. Second is by integration. Lastly, is through indirect teaching.

Direct art teaching is excellent for music and dance teaching. This type of art teaching needs a lot of body works to reach a certain goal. A teacher should also be attentive to the child’s development and must be focused on it. Integration is a form of teaching wherein, parents as teachers will be the ones to teach the child. It is a very simple teaching and does not require a greater effort. All you have to do is to open up a conversation with your child and discuss. This form of teaching does not require a formal surrounding for the child to learn. It is basically learning from what he is doing. It is possible to learn art while the child is playing, studying, taking a bath, etc. By means of integrating an art theory or activity into the activity of the child, you are teaching him an art lesson. This is a form of direct teaching but involves less participation of the teacher. All you have to do is give instructions and let the child do it by himself. The fourth form of art teaching builds independence on the part of the child.

Art education is not that hard. To make it more fun, play with your child while he does his art work. Take this opportunity for you to have quality bonding time with your child.
