The CYBEX Avi Spin is a sleek, three-wheeled pushchair built for parents who want one buggy to cover everyday errands, daily jogs, and countryside strolls. With a 360° swivel front wheel that locks for jogging, lightweight aluminium frame, soft suspension, and air-filled tyres, it’s designed to handle both smooth pavements and bumpier paths.

CYBEX calls it 'the ultimate city, all-terrain and running pushchair' which is suitable to use from birth thanks to the lie-flat seat (although the brand recommend using the Cot S carrycot, £209.95, with the Avi Spin for your baby's first 6 months) to approx. 4 years/22kg. Harriet is a lifestyle journalist and copywriter with over 6 years' professional writing experience for publications such as Glamour and HELLO! She tested the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair with her 11-month-old son for 3 weeks on daily jogs in the park, across city pavements, park runs, woodland paths and running errands.

How easy is it to assemble the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair?

It was super quick to set up, the instructions are easy to follow and the whole process took about 12 minutes altogether. The only tricky part to work out was that the wheels have a button in the middle of the structure that you push to both attach and release them – this wasn’t made that clear on the diagram the instructions provided.

How does the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair perform in the city?

I wouldn’t say this pushchair is built for city life due to the size of the wheels and width of the buggy – it's 68.5cm wide. I was able to do my daily errands like shopping – the large basket was a plus here – however, on public transport such as buses and trains, this buggy proved extremely difficult to get on, off and also manoeuvre around. Also, smaller pavements or roadworks were hard to navigate, but the amazing suspension helped a lot here – this was a massive plus when attempting high kerbs and turning corners.

How does the CYBEX Avi Spin perform as a jogging pushchair?

Amazingly! I absolutely loved this as a jogging pushchair; it made me excited to get out and exercise and I loved that I could bring my son along on days I didn’t have childcare. Locking the front wheel takes seconds, and once locked, the pushchair feels solid and stable even at pace. The handlebar sits at a good height (and adjusts), with no bounce or vibration through the hands. My son seemed secure and happy, and the seat padding kept him snug.

How well does the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair handle on rougher terrain?

This is where I would say the pushchair excelled – it felt safe, smooth and unmatched on rougher terrain. We tested on grass, gravel, and woodland areas and the suspension took the edge off bigger bumps, the tyres gripped well, and the buggy stayed steady.

How comfortable is it for your baby?

My son had no problem falling asleep in the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair and absolutely loved being in it. The seat padding is thick and supportive, with an easy-to-adjust harness. The recline is deep enough for naps and, even during runs, he stayed well-supported with minimal head wobble. The only note I have is that, unlike other pushchairs, this doesn’t have a bumper bar for my son to pull himself forward and hold onto. This is just a preference, but something I know he missed. Also, he managed to take off one of the attachable padded straps a few times, which led to us losing one.

How does the CYBEX Avi Spin feel to push?

Whether walking or running, it’s almost effortless to push. One-handed is easy enough and the suspension genuinely reduces strain on the wrists. The adjustable handlebar is the star of the show and helps different-height parents – me and my boyfriend were able to adjust this perfectly to each of our preferred height and alter between with ease. Also, the foot brake is wide and easy to engage, I loved that this is a one-brake design as well.

How do you fold and unfold the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair?

To fold the buggy:

Remove any child and belongings.

Press the release buttons together, located under the front of the seat.

Lift firmly.

To unfold the buggy:

Unhook the fold lock on the side.

Pull the fold handle and lift firmly as the frame collapses.

How compact is the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair when folded?

It folds smaller than I expected for a jogging buggy (L87cm x W58.5cm x H30cm at its most compact, with the wheels removed) but it is still quite long and does take up a considerable amount of space in the boot. Although it weighs 12.5kg (a little heavier than the Thule Urban Glide 3 at 11.9kg) I found it lightweight to lift and easy to take in and out, but it doesn’t stand up when folded – it sits on its side, providing an awkward shape for storage.

Is the CYBEX Avi Spin a stylish pushchair?

Sporty yet polished, with breathable, wipe-clean fabrics, it is one of the most stylish pushchairs I have come across — it really does look premium. The build feels solid, and even after a muddy run, I wiped it clean in minutes. The same goes with messy snacks on a daily walk.

What is the hood like on the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair?

The hood offers great sun coverage – a problem I have encountered with other pushchairs. My only issue is that when the hood was attached and not used/pulled out, I could hardly see my son. This also proved a problem as he found it easy to take off the detachable padded straps and we could not see when he had done so – this led us to losing one. However, when the hood is extended it has a little window at the top to look though, which was a lovely feature.

What is the storage basket like on the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair?

Great! The under-seat basket provides ample space and is one of my favourite features. There is even a zip on either side to ensure nothing falls out when going at speed. I love this pushchair for a quick pop to shops due to this feature. However, if I were doing a bigger shop which meant taking the car, I would choose to take a more compact pushchair, as I’d need to fit the pushchair and shopping in the boot.

How sustainable is the pushchair?

While there was a lot of packaging with the CYBEX Avi Spin, it was mostly recyclable cardboard.

This product is also definitely high quality enough to last through multiple children.

Is the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair worth the money?

For parents who want a single buggy to cover everyday life and jogging it’s a strong investment. It’s not the most affordable, but the quality and comfort justify the price. I would recommend it to active parents who value style and functionality in equal measure. It’s versatile enough to be your main buggy if you don’t mind the larger wheels, but it also works brilliantly as a dedicated jogging/outdoors pushchair.

Where can I buy the CYBEX Avi Spin pushchair?

It's available at CYBEX, Natural Baby Shower and Kiddies Kingdom.

MadeForMums verdict

I’d recommend the CYBEX Avi Spin to active parents who want a stylish, smooth pushchair for outdoor runs and day-to-day errands. This pushchair is best suited to active and outdoorsy lifestyles, perfect for parents who split their time doing park runs and family walks. Its biggest strength is its smooth, stable ride over bumps and kerbs, paired with a quick, super-easy fold. The main trade-offs are its larger wheels, which can feel bulky in tight spaces, and the amount of boot space it takes up.

We've tested the best running pushchairs to help you find the perfect one for your lifestyle — from lightweight city joggers to all-terrain buggies

Whether you're a seasoned runner or just want to jog around your local park — a jogging buggy can really open up opportunities for you to exercise with your toddler in tow — and finding a good one can really make all the difference.

Jump to our list of the best running buggies

These types of buggies are specifically designed for running or jogging, so they can differ significantly from newborn pushchairs or lightweight strollers. Jogging strollers usually have 3 wheels, air-filled tyres, superior suspension and safety brakes – all of which are to help your performance and to keep you and your baby safe whilst running. Although thanks to their large wheels and sturdy frames (needed to withstand bumpy terrain and fast speeds) they tend to be very large, heavy and can be tricky to store.

But they're not just for serious runners. Due to their nature, many double up as all-terrain buggies and most can even be used from birth, so you could invest in a jogging stroller early in your baby's life, and then use it for running once they are old enough (minimum recommend age is 6 months).

We've put the top models on the market to the test to help you find the best jogging stroller for your lifestyle — whether you want to invest in an all-round pushchair that you can use from birth but also run with later on, a light(er)weight city option, a rugged trail companion, or even a double running buggy.

It's a high quality, sleek and feature-packed pushchair that is perfectly suited to active and outdoors-y families.

Not only is it comfortable for babies and toddlers thanks to its built-in leg rest, comfortable seat and adjustable recline, it's also packed with parent-friendly features that make it a joy to use, whether you're running with it or just using it for day-to-day trips.

The Urban Glide 3 has a lockable swivel front wheel, integrated twist hand brake and reflective features on the canopy and wheels which helps visibility and safety if jogging or pushing the buggy in low light conditions. Plus, the ergonomic handlebar is adjustable, the basket size is extremely generous and it has an easy, one-handed fold.

Although relatively compact for a jogging buggy, the stroller is still quite large and heavy when its folded — so you will have to consider where you'll be storing the buggy, especially if it's not going to be used as your main, everyday pushchair.

When running, the buggy does what it says on the tin — it really glides — thanks to its large, 16'' rear wheels and excellent suspension.

We tested on grass, gravel, and woodland areas and the suspension took the edge off bigger bumps, the tyres gripped well, and the buggy stayed steady."

Other welcome features include an extra large canopy that offers great sun coverage, quick wheel release, a one-pull harness and an adjustable handle with a deceleration brake. There are also reflective rings and stitches throughout the pushchair to increase visibility in low light conditions.

Its sleek design makes it perfect for city living and weekend park runs alike, although do bear in mind that it's still a jogging buggy and its wide footprint won't be the easiest to navigate on small pathways or public transport. However, it does have a relatively compact fold (for a jogging stroller) according to reviewer Harriet, but it's not free-standing and may still take up quite a lot of room in your car boot.

The pushchair can also be used from birth thanks to the ergonomic lie-flat seat, or you can attach a Cybex Cot S (£209.95 at Natural Baby Shower) or Cybex infant car seat to the pushchair.

Finding a good quality pushchair that's suitable for jogging and won't cost over £500 can be a very tricky task, but step forward the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogger stroller. Its price point in no way limits the performance of the stroller. Thanks to its strong and robust chassis, large air-filled tyres with reflective trims, a self-locking front wheel and wrist strap, this buggy is a dream to handle — whether you're pushing it over bumpy terrain or running with it through the park.

Included in the great value price is also a newborn cocoon, so if you're looking for an all-terrain option to use from birth that you can eventually run with once your baby is old enough, this is a really fantastic option. MFM reviewer Alice (pictured above), loved the versatility of the pushchair, and said "it is a nimble, lightweight, versatile stroller that can be used for exercise and for everyday local walks, making it a good choice for active parents who don't want to compromise on comfort, quality or price."

Jogging strollers don't tend to fold down compactly, due to their strong frames and large wheels, but the Venus Jogger surprised us with its compact folded size.

The fold is easy to do and once folded, MFM reviewer Alice said, "If you're using the newborn cocoon this must be removed first, meaning it is essentially folded in two parts. Despite this, I found it easy to store at home when not in use. The Venus can be further reduced in size for storing if the bumper bar is removed (an easy task) and stored in the seat of the buggy. Likewise, you can remove the larger side wheels, which are easy to take off. With three kids, space in the car is a premium so we need a buggy that folds easily and to a relatively small size. I could easily pop the Venus in the boot of my car (an Audi Q3) without removing the bar or wheels."

Other great features include an adjustable handlebar and an easy-to-access roomy shopping basket.

Is clever design and well-thought-out features make handling tricky terrain a breeze, even while running. Plus, your child will enjoy the ride thanks to the deep, tall and comfortable seat.

Parent tester Aisling, who tested the Ridge with her 15 month old son (pictured above) told us "the seat is very well padded and the harness is very secure. My little one seemed very content in the seat. He normally hates going over really rough terrain but I didn’t hear a peep out of him while traversing the bumps when heading into the forest across large rocks and fallen branches."

The buggy has a swivel-locking front wheel, reflective accents, a disc hand brake system, adjustable handlebar with wrist strap and a patented two-stage suspension system — all of which make this a comfortable and smooth ride whilst running. Plus, it even has an included water bottle holder on the handlebar — a very welcome feature! It also has very generous storage which includes a zipped pocket on the pushchair's hood and a large, covered basket. Christy, former head of Consumer Content at MadeForMums, tested the Ridge with her 21 month old on bumpy woodland and long grass said, "while most pushchair baskets are open, I love the fact this is covered so nothing is going to fly out when you go over bumpy ground."

The ease of using the buggy over tough terrain is really where its shines. Parent tester Christy told us, "the large wheels and good suspension meant I felt confident putting the Ridge through its paces on rougher ground, and it coped well, even when going over large tree roots on a slope. It’s really easy to fix the front wheel by pressing 1 button, which gives it more stability over bumps."

The large wheels that allow the buggy to tackle this terrain do mean that storing the pushchair can be tricky — particularly when its folded in a car boot. Although the fold is easy and it folds neatly in one piece, you may need to click the wheels off to be able to store it once it's folded.

The seat unit is world-facing only and is suitable for babies from 6 months old, however it is compatible with an UPPAbaby carrycot (£249.95), or you can buy car seat adaptors and attach a compatible infant carrier if you want to use the stroller before baby is old enough to jog with.

Read our full MadeForMums UPPAbaby Ridge pushchair review

Available from: John Lewis, Oliver's BabyCare, Kiddies Kingdom, Pramworld

Its large, 16'' air-filled tyres and advanced suspension make it a breeze to push while running and over tricky terrain. The front wheel is fixed and there is a handlebar brake too.

Unlike many jogging buggies, this pushchair can be used from birth thanks to its lie-flat seat, car seat adaptors or additional Nipper Pod (£75). Although you shouldn't jog with your baby in the pushchair until they're at least 6 months old, this flexibility is very welcome, especially if you're looking to start using the pushchair earlier. Although it might not be the easiest pushchair to push around your local shops, the Nipper Sport does have quite a lightweight frame — at 9.8kg it's one of the lightest jogging pushchairs on the market — and a relatively compact fold too, so can be a welcome companion to everyday life as well as your jogging adventures. Travel system compatible and with an incredibly easy, one-handed fold, the Summit X3 behaves just like a normal buggy until you take it off road or start running.

And when you do start running, the quality really shines through. MFM reviewer Becky was a huge fan of the buggy's suspension: "the Baby Jogger Summit X3’s all-wheel suspension made a huge difference to my experience as a runner, and a parent, because it enabled me to push myself with fitness while I was pushing the baby, smoothly. I particularly liked that the rear wheels were set widely apart so there was no risk of kicking them when I was running."

The buggy offers an incredibly smooth ride for little passengers too, even on rough terrain, as Becky found: "Running on bumpy terrains might be more challenging for parents, but it appeared to create an equally smooth ride for my son because the suspension in the wheels reduced any impact."

The compact design means that it is smaller than other jogging buggies but with 14-inch rear wheels, a lockable swivel front wheel, rear dampening brake and superior, all-wheel suspension, it's clear that performance hasn't been compromised.

What is a jogging buggy?

Quite simply, a jogging buggy is a pushchair that you can run with. Most everyday strollers and pushchairs aren't suitable for running because they don't have adequate suspension, or robust enough tyres to roll over rough terrain at speed.

What features does a jogging buggy have?

Jogging buggies typically have three wheels — two larger 14in or 16in wheels at the back and one smaller wheel at the front. The front wheel is usually able to be fixed so that it only goes in one direction — this is to make it easier to push the buggy at speed and over potentially rougher terrain. Other features jogging strollers tend to have include a 5-point harness to keep your child secure, a hand-operated break and a wrist loop. Also look out for a good rain cover — this is essential if you're braving the elements while you run. Jogging strollers share very similar features to all-terrain buggies, and some of our picks above are also in our best all-terrain pushchair roundup.

When is it safe to start running with a stroller?

Your baby should be at least six months old before running with them in a pushchair. Some experts actually suggest waiting until they are 8 or 9 months. This is because your child needs to be able to hold their head up, and bouncing around in a jogging buggy can be damaging to a very young baby's neck.

Best all-terrain buggies

Best prams and pushchairs, tried and tested

Best buggy covers

Best pram fans

How we tested these all-terrain pushchairs

Our Best lists are compiled by qualified and experienced parenting journalists. They rely on a number of sources, including our independent reviews, testing undertaken during the MadeForMums Awards, and feedback from our home testing panel and Top Testers Club. Each year thousands of products are put through their paces by hundreds of parents across the country on behalf of MadeForMums, to ensure we’re bringing you honest and true reviews and recommendations.

For this list, we considered wheel type and size, suspension and handling, comfort for child and parent, pushchair size and weight, as well as extra features and value for money.

Our list is not an ordered ranking from 1-12, instead it is a carefully selected group of tried-and-tested products, each of which we believe is best for a different situation or requirement. We don’t just tell you what is best, we help you discover what is best for your family.

Thanks to its great all-terrain features, it handles really well when going over rough ground and is a dream to push. "I can't fault the steering of the pushchair," said MFM reviewer Alice (pictured above), who tested the all-terrain stroller with her newborn baby. "On our walks across the local bumpy football field, it handles the terrain with ease. My 5 week old happily sleeps through the bumps."

The newborn cocoon is included in the price and, according to reviewer Alice, it's "padded, breathable, cosy and warm," making this a great all-terrain option for newborns. However, the cocoon is narrower and smaller than most traditional carrycots and it can be fiddly to remove from the chassis. The seat unit is roomy, padded and ventilated and should be comfortable for your baby or toddler, even when going off-road thanks to its impressive suspension. There is also an adjustable handlebar and an easy-to-access roomy shopping basket.

The Venus Prime Jogger also has one of the most compact folds in our list and, to make it even smaller, the large wheels are easy to take off. Parent tester Michaela said "the stroller is compact when folded, it took up hardly any space in the car boot or whilst storing at home, Once folded, it's easy to pick up and carry whilst being fairly lightweight."

Read our full MadeForMums Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogger Stroller & Newborn Cocoon review

Available from: Ickle Bubba, Amazon

"It glides across all surfaces, giving your child a smooth ride," said MFM reviewer Becky (pictured above), who tested the pushchair with her 1 year old. "Its agility makes it a great option for those who like rugged family adventures off the beaten track."

But the real standout feature for our MFM reviewer and testers was its super simple fold – you just pull on the 2 separate loops located on the seat. One of our testers did note that the seat fabric is left exposed on the outside once folded which "could easily get muddy/worn when in storage/being taken in and out of the car boot." However, this is where the freestanding fold comes in handy, making it easier to keep clean and store.

Another popular feature is its hand-operated brake. "Although I found the handbrake a little hard to get used to, its position means there is no chance of kicking the brake by accident while walking along," commented Becky – particularly useful when pushing across uneven ground.

Read our full MadeForMums Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 review

Available from: Amazon, John Lewis, Very and Kiddies Kingdom

As well as large, foam-filled tyres and great suspension, it also has an adjustable handlebar, an easy one-handed fold and generous storage space — including a large, covered basket and a handy zipped pocket on the pushchair's hood.

Whether you're nipping around town or headed on a muddy, woodland walk, the responsive suspension system with variable coil springs allows the Ridge to tackle either terrain with ease. The impressive suspension, along with a deep, padded seat means that your child should remain comfy and secure no matter what surfaces you're tackling. Parent tester Aisling, who tested the pushchair with her 15-month-old son (pictured above) really rated how comfortable the Ridge was for her child, saying "the seat is very well padded and the harness is very secure. My child seemed very content, he normally hates going over really rough terrain but I didn't hear a peep out of him while traversing the bumps when heading into the forest across large rocks and fallen branches."

Its ease of steering and handling is really one of the pushchair's standout features. MFM reviewer Hayley, who tested the Ridge with her 7 month old (pictured above), particularly rated how easy it is to push: "the incredibly light steering is one of the best things about the Ridge, it feels really nippy and agile. It's very easy to manoeuvre around tight corners and easy to go up and down kerbs." Christy, former head of Consumer Content at MadeForMums, tested the Ridge with her 21 month old on bumpy woodland and long grass and was also really impressed by how well it handled, particularly across trickier surfaces: "the large wheels and good suspension meant I felt confident putting the Ridge through its paces on rougher ground, and it coped well, even when going over large tree roots on a slope."

The seat unit is world-facing only and is suitable for babies from 6 months old, however it is compatible with an UPPAbaby carrycot (£199.95), or you can buy car seat adaptors and attach a compatible infant carrier.

Read our full MadeForMums UPPAbaby Ridge review

Available from: John Lewis, Oliver's BabyCare, Kiddies Kingdom, Pramworld

Plus, there's some great parent-friendly features as well, such a generous 10kg basket, a one-handed fold and a one-handed adjustable handlebar.<del></del>

MFM Reviewer Alex (pictured above) tested the Fox 5 with her 8-week-old son and 2-year-old daughter and thought the buggy was a joy to push, saying "it feels very light to push with both the baby and toddler inside." She was also impressed by how well the Fox 5 handled on difficult different terrain: "on pavements, wooden decking and roads, it glides along, and I didn't have a problem going through water or muddy/boggier areas. Uneven ground including tree roots and stones were, of course, less smooth, but my baby didn't complain. Going up an down kerbs is a dream."

The Fox 5 is definitely one of the pricier all-terrain buggy options on our list, but the carrycot comes included in the price, which reviewer Alex really rated: "it feels very spacious... my eight-week-old baby was content inside and slept happily in it on walks out an about," making this a great all-terrain buggy for a newborn. The carrycot is also suitable for overnight sleeping when used with the additional Bugaboo carrycot stand (£174.90 at Bugaboo). Once your baby has outgrown the bassinet, it then easily converts into a toddler seat, which is a brilliant concept that saves on money and space. The seat unit can both world and parent face and impressively grows with your child, with its highest setting being 59cm from floor to seat.

We also like that you can adapt the fold depending on your storage space. The most compact fold comes from removing the seat and storing it in 2 pieces (however, it can be quite tricky to fold this way). You can also fold it with the seat (and even carrycot) attached and leave it free-standing. Alex said that when folded, "the buggy doesn't take up much space, picking it up is very straightforward and we found it fitted easily inside our car boot."

Read our full MadeForMums Bugaboo Fox 5 pushchair review

Available from: John Lewis, Bugaboo, Very, Mamas&Papas

There’s no denying that the Nipper is ideal for long walks over multiple terrains and it's a great option if you're looking for a multi-purpose pushchair that can also handle going off-road and jogging. MFM Reviewer Miranda, who tested the Nipper v5 with her 2-month-old baby, said "this buggy would be good for any parent who lives in the countryside or who has to deal with many different terrains. The seamless movement and sheer manoeuvrability of the Nipper V5 make it a real joy to take out, particularly over muddy or rough terrain"

The seat is world-facing only and does recline flat so can be used from birth, but you can also attach a carrycot (£185 at Out'n'About) or car seat. Miranda said her baby "seemed very happy in the carrycot", but did suggest that the Nipper "would be ideal for a slightly older baby who could sit front-facing and for a family who would be able to make use of the jogging functionality."

The seat itself is spacious and padded with an improved 5-point harness so your baby or toddler should remain comfortable and secure as you navigate off-road. There's also a reasonably-sized removable shopping basket, zip pockets in the hood and a pouch on the rear of the seat unit which is great for keeping essentials to hand.

Read the full MadeForMums Out'n'About Nipper V5 pushchair review

Available from: Out'n'About, Samuel Johnston, Amazon

There's an ergonomic, adjustable handle, the front swivel wheel can be locked to provide greater control over rougher terrain, it has large 16'' air-filled rear wheels, great suspension and an integrated twist handbrake. Plus reflective rims on the wheels and canopy are useful if you're out and about in dark or low light conditions.

MFM reviewer Sophie, who tested the Urban Glide 3 with her 3-month-old baby (pictured above), was glowing in her praise of the buggy when she put its terrain-tackling capabilities to the test: "You will struggle to find contenders out there that will rival the smooth push of the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair. On pavements and indoors, it pushes like butter. You can steer it on a sixpence with just one finger — no exaggeration. On rougher terrain, the 16-inch rear wheels come into play and drive the pushchair over rocks, tree roots and uneven grass with ease. The option to lock the front single wheel also meant that there was never anywhere that we couldn’t go."

If you're looking for an all-terrain option that will still be useful day-to-day, the Urban Glide 2 has some great features that help it go from hills to the high street — the standout one being its storage. As Sophie said, "the covered basket is the unsung hero of the Urban Glide 3. The basket size is much larger than other all-terrain pushchairs and with the ability to hold 7kg, it rivals many other multi-purpose travel systems too. We also loved the smaller zip pocket on the back of the basket and used it for keys and phone whilst we were out and about."

Read the full MadeForMums Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair review

Available from: John Lewis, Natural Baby Shower

MFM reviewer Shauni, who tested the pushchair with her 13 month old and 5 year old, said, "this is one of the best pushchairs I’ve pushed and steered on multiple terrains. It’s so light to push and so easy to steer, you can even do so one-handed! It effortlessly glides over kerbs, rocks and roots, although on our more heavy off-road walks I did get the front wheel stuck in between a root before lifting the front wheel over it. It’s very easy to push through mud too, although the tyres do seem to like to cling to sticky mud."

Shauni found the seat unit "large and roomy" and said both her children felt comfortable, even her "5 year old (20kgs) comfortably fit in it too, which reassured me that it will be a long-lasting pushchair."

The buggy also has an adjustable handlebar, a very spacious basket (that does have mesh sides so do watch out for mud and water seeping in!) and a great, weather-resistant hood with a reflective trim. Considering its bulky size, it also folds relatively compactly for an all-terrain pushchair, but when folded it is understandably heavy and awkward to lift.

Read the full MadeForMums Hauck Runner 2 pushchair review

Available from: Argos, Boots and Kiddies Kingdom.

It's comfortable for kids too, MFM reviewer Victoria tested the wagon with her 3 children told us, "my children (and a couple of their friends who hitched a lift on occasion) absolutely LOVED it. The seats were comfortable and even reclined, and the 5-point harness is padded. The harnesses were a little fiddly to use, but once in and fastened my children were all comfortable and secure."

Due to the heavy and large nature of the wagon, it can be difficult to store and fold, as reviewer Victoria found: "I struggled to fold the wagon by myself. It's quite large and a bit difficult to have your arms across both sides of the body of the wagon to lift the latches while pulling it up to fold it together. It is obviously a fairly big and bulky piece of equipment so you would need a suitable place to store it."

It comes with a removable UV Canopy, adjustable canopy poles, and a roll-out wind/privacy shade. Parent tester Rachel, who tested the pushchair with her 4 month old, found that all parts of the travel system worked seamlessly with each other and said that "each attachment feels built to last and all connect together really well."

When you are walking over bumpy trails and footpaths, an important consideration for an all-terrain pushchair is the quality of the suspension – especially if your baby is sleeping! The Fjordi doesn't disappoint. It boasts adjustable four-wheel suspension and puncture-proof gel wheels. MFM Reviewer Sadia, who tested the travel system with her 5 month old (pictured above) and 3 year old said that it "was a joy to push around. It handles beautifully, can be steered easily with one hand and veered between pavement and indoor shop floors without so much as a bump, navigating cracked pavements and tree roots rising through paving slabs with ease."

Our testers were also impressed with the buggy's ergonomic features, such as the height-adjustable handle. The pushchair comes with two sets of wheels: a 'rural' set which is a longer, more substantial wheelbase for handling tricky terrain and an 'urban' set which is shorter and lighter, transforming the Core into more of a lightweight, compact stroller. MFM Reviewer Tara, who tested the pushchair with her 5 month old (pictured) and 3 year old, says "it's simple to adjust the chassis from country to city mode and swap to the smaller wheels."

The rural wheelbase, whilst offering larger wheels that, according to Tara "perform really well on the open forest, grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles," understandably doesn't handle as well on rougher ground as some of the other options on our list with larger wheels. However, if you're looking for a compact or lightweight pushchair that you can transform to take on woodland or forest walks, the Core quite efficiently ticks both boxes.

There's also a host of other impressive features such as an adjustable handlebar, integrated toddler ride-on board, spacious basket with drainage hole, large padded seat unit as well as the game-changing LED Visibility lights located on each side of the buggy. The lights are easy to use, rechargeable and really help to improve visibility if you're out walking in dark or low light conditions.

Read our full MadeForMums iCandy Core pushchair review

Available from: Samuel Johnston and John Lewis

Building off of the already fantastic single version of the Nipper V5 we included above, the Double version is durable, offers excellent suspension and is good to look at to boot.

"This updated version of Out 'n' About’s rugged, outdoorsy double buggy handles tricky terrain with ease," noted MFMs reviewers Maria and Alice. "Kerbs are no match for the pneumatic tyres and, despite the buggy’s size, the wide, height-adjustable handle makes one-handed steering a breeze."

The real drawback with here is the surprising lack of storage. Compared with the other all-terrain strollers, the basket is definitely on the smaller side.

That being said, the fact that this is fairly lightweight is remarkable. As Alice pointed out, "Considering its size and that it holds 2 children, the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double is incredibly lightweight, at just 12.8kg. It can hold up to 22kg per seat and I used it with my 15kg toddler and 5kg baby and never broke sweat."

Overall, if you're a parent to twins and you want to get out and about more often, then the Nipper V5 Double is a fantastic option.

Read our full MadeForMums Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double review

Available from: Out 'n' About, Very, Kiddies Kingdom

As well as great features such as an easy-to-use and responsive brake pedal, adjustable handlebar, a generously-sized sturdy basket and a large, extendable 50+ UV hood, it also copes really well on tricky terrain.

Parent tester Rebecca thought that the standout quality of the Roma Atlas was how well it performs as an off-road buggy, saying "it moves smoothly and easily, turning corners nimbly and goes up and down hills without working up too much of a sweat. It glides over pavements, leaps over grass and tackles cobbles and woodland paths happily." Parent tester Kayleigh, who also tested the Atlas agreed that it is "an absolute breeze" to push on pavements even one-handed. She continued, "the stroller tackled mud, grass, gravel, woodland and rocky pathways in the park all without any difficulty in steering."

The large, puncture proof tyres are robust and durable, plus you can easily lock the front wheel to help tackle tricker terrains. However, Rebecca noted that they are very wide: "they stick out well beyond the width of the handlebar and chassis. This size might cause struggled down narrow paths or tracks and it would not fit through the back door from my garden without removing the rear wheels." The wheels, however, are easy to remove and the pushchair is relatively compact when folded, as parent tester Kayleigh said, "it fits into the boot of our small Skoda Fabia with only one rear wheel needing to be removed (which is easily done)."

Available from: Amazon, Kiddies Kingdom, Pramworld, Roma

What to consider when buying an all-terrain pushchair

Wheel size – The general principle is the larger the wheel, the better it will handle rough terrain. Many regular pushchairs have two larger wheels at the back and two smaller ones at the front. All-terrains with large wheels both front and back will give you and your baby the easiest ride and lightest push even over very rough terrain.

Tyre type – Air-filled tyres give the smoothest of rides on the bumpiest of grounds, so if you’re looking for a really tough all-terrain or a buggy you can jog with, these are a great option. However, they are prone to punctures and you’ll need to carry a repair kit. Increasingly, we’re seeing all-terrain pushchairs designed with foam- or gel-filled tyres, which handle rough terrain very well but can add weight.

Suspension – Good suspension will also help to make off-road pushing easier and the journey more comfortable for your baby. Some all-terrains feature adjustable or heavy-duty suspension and shock absorbers.

Number of wheels – A 4-wheel pushchair offers stability and often a bigger shopping basket, as they don’t narrow at the front. However, 3-wheel models tend to be easier to manoeuvre over rough ground (particularly lumps and bumps, such as high kerbs and tree roots) due to the single steer at the front.

Weight and size – All-terrain pushchairs tend to be quite heavy and bulky compared to standard pushchairs. Think about how often you’re going to be lifting your pushchair when folded (e.g. loading it into a car boot or carrying up stairs). Often, 3-wheelers have large back wheels, which can make the pushchair quite wide. While you can also use an all-terrain pushchair for walking around town, it is worth noting that the width of some models can make it difficult to navigate the smaller spaces and aisles inside shops.

Accessories – The joys of UK weather mean that we can encounter rain all year round. If you’re out on long walks a rain cover will be essential, so check if this is included in the price or if you have to buy it separately, along with other accessories such as a footmuff for winter or a cup holder.

Fabric – Are the fabrics waterproof? If you plan to take your pushchair off-road, then you will certainly have to factor in getting it muddy and damp, especially with 3-wheelers being closer to the ground, so check if the fabric is water and mud resistant.

Do I need to buy an all-terrain pushchair?

Yes – If you regularly encounter bumpy terrain, especially if you live in a rural area, a standard pushchair or pram might not have the features to help you tackle this with ease. For example, regular pushchairs that have small wheels at the front can quickly get clogged up with grass, sticks and mud that may prevent the wheels from turning.

Probably not – If you’re looking for a buggy that will be able to handle occasional country walks and regular trips to the park. A regular pushchair is likely to be able to handle these kinds of terrains, as long as it has reasonable-sized rear wheels. The only buggies that really struggle with very rough terrain are strollers with small front and rear wheels and little suspension.

Are all-terrain pushchairs suitable from birth?

Most of the pushchairs on our list are suitable from birth, either with a separate carrycot or a lie-flat seat. However, according to standards that assess whether a pushchair is suitable from birth, "lie-flat" only has to be 150°, not 180°.

Given the scientific evidence behind keeping your newborn baby lying flat in a pushchair, we recommend that if you’re using this pushchair on a frequent and regular basis with your newborn, you use either a carrycot or choose a model with a full 180° flat recline.

How much does an all-terrain pushchair cost?

Depending on your budget size and how much you are willing to spend, prices can vary significantly. All-terrain pushchairs tend to start in the mid-range market and go up to higher-end models – we have highlighted models starting from £199 to over £1,000.

Consider how much you are willing to invest, but leave some wiggle room in case you want to buy extra accessories such as a newborn carrycot or raincover, which sometimes don’t come included.

The Nipper v5 is the latest version of Out ’n’ About’s hugely popular all-terrain pushchair that comes with the added bonus of being suitable for jogging with your baby (over the age of 6 months). The best-selling buggy has been given an all-new refresh, with water resistant fabrics, one-handed folding mechanism and improved safety and visibility for parents.

Designed for active parents, its 12in wheels and sophisticated suspension system ensure it can tackle even the toughest – or softest – terrain, from the forest to the beach. Carrycot and travel system compatible, it’s suitable for use from birth until approximately 4 years old.

With an RRP of £445 it sits alongside most all-terrain 3-wheelers price-wise, and was awarded Joint Silver in the best all-terrain pushchair category at the MadeForMums Awards 2024.

About our parent tester

Journalist and first-time mum Miranda Atty lives in Eton, Berkshire. She tested the Out ’n’ About Nipper Single V5 with her 2-month-old daughter Tigerlily, on longer country strolls in the woods, taking it on a visit to her mum’s in Wiltshire and out and about on her local high street.

First impressions?

I was initially struck by how sturdy and robust the wheels of the Nipper v5 looked upon taking the frame out of the box. On the flipside, I was also surprised by how heavy I found the frame, which I thought might prove a bit of a challenge when lifting the Nipper in and out of the car. I checked the buggy’s specifications and found that it weighs 9.8kg, which is more than my other pram – although positively lightweight compared to the 3-wheeler UPPAbaby Ridge, which weighs 13.2kg.

How easy is the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair to build?

The Nipper is super simple to build, with clear instructions which include pictures. As the mother of a newborn, I’m definitely still suffering from ‘baby brain’ and did have a little panic trying to figure out how to set up the carrycot, but my 15-year-old stepdaughter had it figured out in a matter of seconds!

How do you assemble the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair?

To build the buggy, you simply unfold the frame, which is very quick, and then fit the 3 wheels, also very quick. As my daughter is still a newborn, we opted to build and fit the carrycot, sold separately for £185, which slots onto the pram easily.

How easy is the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair to fold and unfold?

Very! You simply unclip the latches on the side and then there is a handily labelled section which says ‘pull to fold’ and you fold the buggy in on itself and it collapses.

View Green Video on the source website

How compact is the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair once folded?

Without the wheels, the Nipper is super compact once folded, measuring only H29cm x W48cm x L86cm. With the wheels on, I found the buggy doesn’t fold down quite so small – in fact I had some trouble fitting it into my mum’s car which has a small boot. Definitely something to be aware of. With the wheels on, it folds down to H42.5cm x W61.5cm x L94cm, similar to the UPPAbaby Ridge. If you're after a more compact fold 3-wheel all-terrain pushchair, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 might be more suitable at H26.5cm x W65cm x L78cm.

Did the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair fit easily in your car?

The Nipper fitted easily into my own car, which is a hybrid Toyota Rav – but that is because it has a huge boot. With the wheels on, it was a real struggle to fit it into my mum’s car, a Nissan Juke.

Can the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair be used with a car seat to create a travel system?

Yes – you can buy universal travel system adaptors for £35 to create a travel system. It is compatible with a range of car seats including Maxi-Cosi, BeSafe and Cybex.

What do you think of the carrycot?

I opted to use the Out 'n' About V5 carrycot, £185, with the pushchair as Tigerlily was so young. The carrycot is a very good size; my 2-month-old daughter had plenty of room. It comes with a raincover to keep your little one dry and the hood reaches up an adequate amount. However I did feel the quality of the carrycot was much lower than my other pram – it felt quite flimsy, especially for the price. I also felt that the angle of the carrycot once attached was slightly lower than it should be; my baby’s head seemed to be tilted slightly downwards, which was not ideal.

How easy is it to store the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair at home?

Pretty easy. We store ours in our ‘pantry’ kitchen cupboard and it easily leans against the wall – we haven’t taken the wheels off but if you were to do so it would take up much less room.

How easy is it to push and steer?

This Out 'n' About Nipper V5 pushchair is wonderful to push and steer – the sturdy wheels mean it glides like a dream even across rough terrain and muddy, uneven ground. It can be pushed with one hand and easily turns into and out of corners. My 15-year-old stepdaughter also reports that it would be incredibly speedy to push with a little one in the seat as she tested it out (without our 2 month old in it of course!)

What’s the chassis like?

The Nipper V5 chassis is sturdy and durable, and despite driving across some rural terrain, we’ve so far managed to keep it looking clean and scratch-free.

How do you rate the buggy handle on the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 pushchair?

The handle feels nice to touch, with a bouncy foam cover which makes it easy to steer and comfortable to hold; although I would rate it as more functional than stylish.

What are the wheels like on the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 pushchair?

With 12in air-filled tyres and suspension, the tyres are the best, sturdiest pram tyres I have come across so far. I felt very confident tackling all types of terrain as a result and would rate them really highly.

How good are the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 pushchair's brakes?

The brakes are very easy to apply and very responsive. However it is worth noting that I tested the pram in winter whilst wearing boots and trainers, and so the brake could be bit more difficult to apply if one was wearing flimsy sandals or flipflops.

How do you rate the storage basket on the Nipper V5?

Not great. The basket is pretty small and doesn’t have much depth, and to be honest we didn’t really use it whilst testing this pram as we felt that anything we bought would be in danger of falling out. This isn’t that surprising when you think about one of the pram’s main functions – that it can be used as a jogging stroller. It would need to be streamlined and you would be unlikely to actually use the basket if you had bought the pram for this purpose.

How happy and comfortable did your baby seem in the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 pushchair?

I'd say very. Tigerlily is only 2 months old, and is likely to fall asleep when in her carrycot. However she seemed happy in the carrycot, and alternated between having a comfortable sleep and being alert and having a look around her.

The 2023 V5 model is, funnily enough, the 5th version of the Nipper 3-wheeler and has a number of updated features. It has water resistant fabrics, extendable sun visor and UV visor, improved 5-point safety harness, magnetic peekaboo window and a new one-hand quick fold mechanism. The V5 also comes with a raincover and basket included.

What is the packaging like?

The Nipper V5 came in a big recyclable box which was an immediate plus point. I did think there was a bit too much plastic – the wheels were wrapped separately for example – but I was pleased the main box would be able to go straight into our recycling.

What are the repair options for the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 pushchair?

It’s very easy to get the Nipper repaired or serviced by going to the Out ’n’ About website and following the instructions there.

Now that you’ve tested it, what would you have wanted to know before purchasing the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair?

That the carrycot has to be purchased separately. The Nipper V5 seems like great value for an older baby, but for one under 6 months like mine, the extra £185 for a carrycot makes it less affordable.

Who would the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair be most useful for?

I'd say this a great purchase for any active parent, particularly one who would make use of the jogging feature for a child older than 6 months. It would also be good for any parent who lives in the countryside or who has to deal with many different terrains – or even a parent who lives by the sea, as the Nipper is even suitable to be used on sand.

Is the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 pushchair worth the money?

On balance, yes, and this moves to a definite yes if you have an older child and don’t require the carrycot. The seamless movement and sheer manoeuvrability of the Nipper V5 make it a real joy to take out, particularly over muddy or rough terrain. It wouldn’t be great for city dwellers or those who have to go up lots of flights of stairs on a daily basis as it is certainly not the lightest buggy on the market, but it is very versatile and lovely to push and steer with great suspension.

Where can I buy the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 pushchair?

Available from Out 'n' About, John Lewis and Kiddies Kingdom.

MadeForMums verdict

The Nipper V5 is a breath of fresh air – I am really impressed with how pleasant it is to push and steer and its versatility in being used on all sorts of different terrains. I think it would be ideal for a slightly older baby who could sit front-facing and for a family who would be able to make use of the jogging functionality. My partner in particular liked the look and feel of the buggy and he is already looking forward to our daughter reaching the 6 month mark so he can take her out jogging. Overall, the Nipper V5 will be a useful second pram for us, and is my partner’s preferred mode of transport for our daughter.

A versatile, robust and comfortable all-terrain double buggy which is a dream to steer – just check the dimensions of your front door and car boot before you buy

The new Nipper V5 Double from Out 'n' About is the upgraded version of this best-selling twin buggy and is billed as a ‘quick fold’ design, perfect for easy boot storage. It’s suitable for newborn to 4 years old (or 22kg max load per seat), fitting 2 children of different ages and sizes and its lightweight frame means it’s especially great for active types, like joggers, or those regularly heading out over muddy, uneven terrain.

This updated version of Out 'n' About’s rugged, outdoorsy double buggy handles tricky terrain with ease. Kerbs are no match for the pneumatic tyres and, despite the buggy’s size, the wide, height-adjustable handle makes one-handed steering a breeze. The Nipper V5 Double has an RRP of £685, almost £100 cheaper than the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double at £764.

The brand has made it its mission to enable families who “love spending time outside journey anywhere together … embrace the great outdoors,” and this is definitely a pram to take off the beaten track rather than for a nip down the shops.

About our parent testers

TV producer Alice Skidmore tested the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double with her 16-week-old and 3-year-old sons around East London on high street shopping trips and forest walks.

Freelance journalist Maria Clarke and her fiancé also tested the buggy. They live in London with twin daughters, aged 8 months. The buggy was tested largely in the city but taken to the countryside for the Christmas holidays, too.

What were your first impressions of the buggy?

Alice: Despite the huge box it arrived in, the Out 'n’ About Nipper V5 Double was unfussy and quick to put together and I was ready to get out in it within 30 minutes. The gigantic pneumatic tyres first needed a few puffs of air (pumps are available to buy separately) but then offered the smoothest ride my kids have ever experienced; and despite its width, I could steer and push single handed if the mood took me. Devastatingly the buggy doesn’t go in and out of my front door thanks to our cat flap which takes away a few valuable centimetres, so I have to fold and unfold outside and shuffle it down the hallway.

Maria: It was pleasingly simple to set up with clear instructions and was incredibly light, which meant putting it together didn't require much muscle power (or space!) – you can literally do it one-handed. We didn't need tools either, which was a real bonus and meant it didn’t sit unopened for weeks. The only slight setback was the toggle controlling the seat recline function, which I quickly realised was twisted and made it difficult to recline one of the seats when setting it up – it took quite a bit of twisting and wriggling to finally free it so the seat could fully recline if and when needed for the babies. Overall, I really liked the design. It wasn’t overly fussy and looks sporty and durable.

How does the updated Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double buggy compare to the older version?

Alice: The silhouette is unchanged and the weight remains an impressively light 12.8kg, but the new Nipper V5 Double has technical water resistant fabrics, extendable sun visors and UV visors, improved 5-point safety harnesses and magnetic peekaboo windows. The branding is more discreet and the v5 Nipper double also comes with a raincover and removable basket included.

How does it compare to other similar double buggies?

Alice: If you want the option to jog with a double buggy, there isn’t an awful lot that will come close to the Out ’n’ About Nipper V5 Double. Otherwise the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double is over £100 more expensive at around £765 but it is compatible with car seats (creating a travel system). The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double has 4 wheels to Nipper Double V5's 3 and has a hand operated break. The GT2 is also over 3kg heavier and at 77.5cm wide, trickier to get through doors. And it doesn’t come with a bumper bar included.

How did you find the Nipper V5 Double as an all-terrain buggy?

Alice: Out 'n' About really know what they’re doing in terms of making light work of tricky terrain. I took both kids to the forest on grotty muddy days which just wouldn’t have been possible in our regular buggy. With the Nipper V5 Double you can cruise through thick deep mud and over tree roots without pause. It’s genuinely a pleasure to get out and about with and has got me out of the house on days where I would previously have bundled us all up under duvets on the sofa all day.

Can you use a carrycot on the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double?

Alice: Yes, the buggy can be used with 1 or 2 carrycots; I used it with a single for my baby while my toddler sat in the seat. The carrycot is snug but there is plenty of room to grow for my 5th centile 3 month old. It’s suitable from birth up to 9kg which is approximately 6 months and, while I think we’ll get full use out of it, taller babies might get a bit tight in there.

It feels solid if a little heavy – adding 3kg to the weight of the whole buggy – and has a sturdy Velcro harness to hold babies in place and give piece of mind. The mattress is solid and passes the DIY breathability test, but it's not suitable for overnight sleeping. The sturdy hood needs two hands to open and close it which is pretty fiddly but otherwise does its job well, and when open it meets the hood from the buggy to give total shade or emergency wind/rain protection if you’re out without the raincover.

What do you think of the seats on the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double buggy?

Alice: The world-facing only seat units come with removable padded inserts which stay in place with Velcro. The seat is fairly narrow and seems pretty snug with winter coats on, but it’s deep and roomy enough for a snooze and the buggy has a great foot rest which keeps tired legs nice and clear of the ground. The seats recline via a toggle which you need 2 hands to sit the chair up straight. I’m used to a one-handed recline but this system does the job fine once you get the hang of it.

Maria: Both of my babies felt supported and safe in their seats and I particularly liked the straps which had a nice amount of padding and felt more comfortable than others we'd tried, with no digging in or chafing. There was plenty of growing room for them both in there, too – this is definitely a buggy you can comfortably use for a long time.

We struggled with the toggle recline, which was twisted on arrival, but when we did finally manage to recline the seats fully, the pram was worryingly easy to tip up accidentally. I found out the hard way by gently pushing the pram back and forth to lull them to sleep and a couple of times, it nearly went flying when very slight pressure was put on the handlebar to push them.

Is the harness on the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double buggy easy to use?

Alice: Yes. The harness is one of the best things about the seats – the clips are brightly coloured, so easy to find and clip in quickly in all lighting, and the large central button is super easy to release with one hand. The straps are nice and easy to adjust as well.

How effective is the pushchair hood?

Maria: The hoods covered the seats nicely and stayed in place well (they went further down than others I'd tried) which mean babies are thoroughly covered if it starts raining, even before putting the raincover on. However, they did make a noticeable snapping noise and jolted the pram when pulling them down, which isn’t ideal if trying to quietly pull them over a sleeping baby! When pushing the pram, you can't see much through the little visibility plastic 'windows' (basically a glimpse of the top of the babies' heads) so that function felt a little silly, too.

How easy is it to fold the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double buggy?

Maria: The buggy is simple to fold with one hand, making it perfect to tuck away in the front porch out of the way or put in the boot of the car with ease. You just unclip the locking catches on each side of the frame and pull the strap in the base of the seat unit to fold it (you can also remove the quick-release wheels if you need more space).

Alice: The handlebar makes a lot of contact with the ground during folding and once folded, and I think that foam won’t stay pristine for long as a result. As is the case with a lot of double buggies, the fold is sort of ‘inside out’ – so the seats are exposed to the elements once it’s folded.

How compact is the pushchair when folded?

Maria: When folded it’s relatively compact at L90cm x W72cm x H32cm, very similar to the brand's GT Double, and light to pick up compared to other twin buggies. We have a Volvo XC40 and it fitted nicely in the boot with plenty of room to spare – although I know Alice couldn't fit it in her Renault Clio.

Despite it being one of the most narrow double buggies on the market, our front door is especially slimline, so it didn't fit through ours (we've only found one buggy that does – the Mountain Buggy Duet). It went in fine through every other front door we visited, so I'd advise checking this carefully if you have twins.

How lightweight is the pushchair?

Alice: Considering its size and that it holds 2 children, the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double is incredibly lightweight, at just 12.8kg. It can hold up to 22kg per seat and I used it with my 15kg toddler and 5kg baby and never broke sweat.

What is the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double like to push and steer?

Alice: This buggy is an absolute delight to push and steer on any surface. It’s incredibly sturdy and glides over bumpy, uneven ground pretty effortlessly. I’ve even pushed one-handedly in the forest. Pavements and kerbs are no trouble at all – I tend to use both hands on kerbs to make sure the single front wheel has landed firmly. It has a tight turning circle and feels really steady , plus it’s completely silent and the pneumatic tyres haven’t needed any upkeep as yet.

Maria: Pushing the buggy was a doddle – steering is incredibly light and easy compared to our regular pram. The suspension meant it performed really well in the city while shopping (one-handed pushing is easy) and in the countryside when we took it on a Boxing Day walk down quite muddy, uneven country paths and over tree roots – the babies stayed asleep, which was a miracle. My partner and I were both able to get it on and off several London buses without waking the twins from nap-time, which was brilliant. We also took it on a train with no issues.

What do you think of the handlebar?

Maria: If I had to really nit-pick, I'd say the handlebar felt slightly cheap (it's foam, without any cover on it) and because it lacked a cover, I'd imagine it could get damaged quite easily if lifting carabiner clips on/off for shopping etc on a regular basis. Having said that, it adjusted nicely for both myself and my fiancé at different heights and was super simple to do and felt very comfortable to push.

What are the wheels on the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double buggy like?

Maria: The buggy feels quite sporty compared to others I've used – probably due to its light weight and air-filled tyres and suspension (it’s a popular buggy to jog with). So far, we've experienced no punctures on the air-filled tyres, which was a major fear of mine! They give a nice amount of ‘bounce’ on both pavement and off-road.

Do the brakes feel effective?

Alice: The Nipper V5 Double's brake is controlled by a single kick mechanism which is solid and holds well, but I find myself having to extend my leg quite far under the buggy to engage it – something to bear in mind for shorter parents.

How big is the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double shopping basket, and is it easy to access?

Alice: The basket is a fairly good size and is in addition to storage pouches behind each seat and zipped pockets in each side of each hood, however the basket is hard to access, especially if one or both seats are reclined. When the buggy is folded it’s not really possible to retrieve anything from it without unfolding again. I tend to use a bag for shopping when using this buggy.

Maria: It could definitely be roomier. The basket for storage underneath the pram lacked space (which, as a twin parent, you really do need!) and our dog missed hitching a ride underneath the buggy, which it does in our usual pram. I really missed space to put shopping in (putting very light items on the handlebar would work fine but much more and it would tip the buggy over).

Who is the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double most suitable for?

Alice: This buggy is perfect for those with twins, or growing families who enjoy easy access to the outdoors. You’ll need a decent sized car boot if heading further afield; and do double check the measurements of your front door and hallway, as although 72cm is amazingly slim for a double, little bits of door furniture (or cat flaps) can make the difference between being able to roll the buggy into the house and having to fold outside.

What’s in the box?

We tested the buggy with an additional newborn insert, carrycot and carrycot adapter, which can all be bought separately.

The basic Out’n’About Nipper V5 Double consists of:

Chassis

Basket

Raincover

3 x pneumatic wheels

Bumper bar

Are there any additional extras that you need to or can buy?

Footmuff, £75

Bottle holder, £12.99

Handmuffs, £33

Carrycot raincover, £42

UV double cover for £62.50.

Carry bag, £96

What is the packaging like?

Alice: The packaging was surprisingly minimal (while being sturdy and protective) and though the majority was cardboard, there were a number of plastic elements which I felt could have been reduced/swapped for something more easily recyclable.

Do Out 'n' About offer any repair options?

Alice: There is a really comprehensive collection of spare parts available for purchase as well as maintenance and repair tips on the website. The company also offers an engineer service, so you can return your buggy to them for 3 tiers of repair, from refresh to rebuild which costs between £65 and £185. There isn’t currently a recycling programme.

Is the Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double buggy good value?

Alice: This is an excellent pushchair which would well last from birth to 4 years and I don’t doubt it would have a long life beyond that too. Considering how rugged, sturdy and well made it is, I think it’s priced really well and is worth the money you’ll spend on it.

Maria: The reasonable price point of this buggy definitely makes it worth the money in my opinion – our 'regular' twin pram cost a great deal more and if you're on a budget, this ticks most boxes. It's a great 'all-rounder' option for people who live in cities or the countryside and handles all terrain surprisingly well. The quality feels robust and durable despite its light frame and is relatively low cost for a twin pram.

MadeForMums verdict

Alice: The Out 'n' About Nipper V5 Double is an incredibly fun to use buggy and definitely lets big families enjoy the outdoors, though it might leave you wanting a bigger hallway and larger car boot.

Maria: I really enjoyed using this side-by-side pram and I’d definitely recommend it to other twin parents, with the caveat to be careful when fully reclined and not to put shopping on the handlebars. It’s spacious for growing babies – so a great investment – and light enough to take on trips or lift into the car without worrying. My final piece of advice would be to double – no triple – check the width. For us, it sadly was too wide for our front door, which was a real shame — we should have read the small print.

A relative newcomer to the market, launching in the US in 2019 and in the UK just last year, Wonderfold has amassed a celebrity following, with the likes of Chrissy Teigen and Kylie Jenner fans of the wagon brand.

And it’s not hard to see why this brand has appealed to so many. Starting life as selling outdoor wagons to transport items, the firm noticed a lot of people using them for their children, which wasn’t safe. So they decided to create a wagon that was comfortable and safe for children, and WonderFold Baby was born.

They soon realised that parents weren’t just using the wagons for babies, they were using them for the whole family and that’s when they changed the name to WonderFold Wagon.

WonderFold’s current range includes 2-seater and 4-seater stroller wagons as well as push and pull wagons. The W Series Stroller Wagon is where it all started and there have been many iterations of it since. The WonderFold W4 Luxe is the brand's premium offering, which can hold up to 4 passengers, coming in at £1,249.99.

What were your first impressions of the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Wagon?

It was nicely packed and easy to get everything out. The only slight challenge is the weight of the body of the trolley as it weighs a fair amount (around 28.5kg), and so I would struggle to lift it alone. The instructions were clear and detailed with diagrams supporting the words and were easy to follow.

It took a competent DIYer (my husband) less than 15 minutes to put together, but there is no reason to think it would be a challenge for anyone because the instructions are easy to follow. No tools are required and assembly is fairly easy.

Is the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Wagon easy to use?

Yes! There are no complicated aspects to it really, you just strap the children in and off you go. The only slightly fiddly thing was strapping the children in – it's definitely better to adjust the straps before getting the children in. The brake is a one-step foot break and is super easy to use.

Is it easy to fold the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Wagon?

To be completely honest I struggled to fold the wagon by myself. It's quite large and a bit difficult to have your arms across both sides of the body of the wagon to lift the latches while pulling it up to fold it together.

With a bit more practice I could probably get the hang of it though and there are plenty of videos online of how to do it… none of them seemed to struggle as much as I did. I am, however, only 5ft 2, whereas my 6ft 2 husband had no problems collapsing it and lifting it into our boot. If I were using it without him around then I would really struggle to put it down and then lift it into our car boot.

What's the wagon like when it's folded?

It is obviously a fairly big and bulky piece of equipment so you would need a suitable place to store it. We have an outside bike shed where we keep ours. Once folded down it measures at H113cm x W73.5cm x D51cm and so it is unlikely to fit in many car boots.

We did manage to fit in our car boot (a Volvo xc90 6-seater), but we had to remove the rear wheels of the wagon to do so (although this was quick and easy). It is therefore unlikely to fit in cars smaller than a big SUV or estate without having to compromise on seat space.

How good is the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Wagon to pull/push and steer?

Despite its pretty hefty size, the Wonderwagon is really lovely to ‘drive’. It feels sturdy and safe for those on board, yet it’s nice and controlled, and smooth to push. Due to its all-terrain extra-large wheels, it manoeuvred over deep gravel, bumpy paths and rough grass with ease.

It's obviously a big, heavy wagon so can be quite a weight to push around and I benefitted from being with another adult when having more than 2 or 3 children in it as it can be difficult pushing up the kerb and steering around corners when it is approaching the weight limit of 136kg.

Smaller kerbs and drop kerbs weren’t a problem, but it was a little harder to negotiate when it came to deeper step-ups and, if I was by myself, I had to go to the front of the wagon to lift it up.

Despite it being a bit of a beast it is only 76cm wide and so will fit through a standard doorway, making shopping with all 3 of my children an enjoyable experience for a change! And with space to put the shopping afterwards, I was very pleased with the wagon’s capacity.

How well does the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Wagon manage different terrain?

We used it across a range of terrains, from bumpy gravel paths and muddy tracks to smooth pathways and grass, and it didn't struggle once. Obviously, if you have 4children in it and several shopping bags then its going to be quite heavy to push, particularly uphill, but that goes without saying really. It would be brilliant to take on a day trip to the beach or a festival as you could pull it over the sand or grass with space to carry all your towels and equipment.

Is it suitable for busy areas?

I used the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Wagon in a range of different situations, including on the school run and around our village running errands, as well as a day trip to Legoland, through wooded walks and on shopping trips.

I didn’t encounter any issues, other than manoeuvring around smaller, busy shops, however, this would be the case with a double buggy or bulky pram.

What’s the quality of the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon like?

The whole body of the wagon is sturdy and well-designed. It can seat 4 children, which is incredibly handy, and gives you something that not many pushchairs/buggies etc can.

There is also a lot of storage space, little pouches and zipped areas which makes it useful when using it for adventures and outings as there is plenty of room for packed lunches, water bottles, keys, etc. The removable basket is particularly sizeable and came in really handy.

It feels very well thought out, from the mesh panels to aid ventilation and the zippered entrance to allow children to climb in and out themselves, to the abundance of storage and optional pull strap for extra rough terrains.

It is obviously fairly bulky and big, so not the most glamorous of vehicles, however the sleek black frame and panelling (also available in grey and camo) along with the vegan leather handle make it look pretty swish. As you'd expect for the price!

How do you rate the handle on the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Wagon?

The handle is adjustable and has a wide range of different heights you can change it to in seconds, which I found particularly useful as my husband and I are a foot different in height. It is comfortable to hold and easy to adjust, you just need to push the buttons on both sides and lift or pull to your desired height.

What do you think of the seating in the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon for your children?

My children (and a couple of their friends who hitched a lift on occasion) absolutely LOVED it. The seats were comfortable and even reclined, and the 5-point harness is padded.

Having a choice of configurations and being able to seat up to 4 children in it meant that I could have just one child in it with lots of space to store/push bits and bobs, or all 3 of my children, plus room for a friend and still place to keep a bag, a blanket and plenty of snacks.

The adjustable and removable canopy is also extremely useful for any inclement weather, particularly in the sunshine as it offers SPF. It would also provide coverage for drizzly days, although if it were particularly wet or windy you would probably want to invest in the rain cover.

What are the seat harnesses like on the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon?

The harnesses were a little fiddly to use and I found it a bit tricky to get them lined up to slide into position and lock, especially if your child is wriggling around. They’re also a bit difficult to lengthen or tighten when your child is already in the wagon so I would recommend sorting that before putting any children in. Although once in and fastened my children were all comfortable and secure.

What are the wheels like?

The XL all-terrain wheels are a credit to the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon and keep it rolling smoothly across all surfaces. They are PU and don’t require any pumping. From grass to gravel, the wheels handled it all with ease.

How good are the brakes?

The brake is a one-step foot brake and is super easy to use. Despite being positioned in the middle at the back I didn’t find myself kicking it when walking and it held the wagon in place well, even when stationary on a slight incline.

How do you rate the storage in the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon?

The storage was a surprise bonus with the WonderWagon. There are so many different pockets, pouches and compartments to keep lots of bits and bobs. Along with the actual base of the wagon, where, when not pushing the full capacity of children you could definitely store extra things.

There is plenty of room for packed lunches, water bottles, keys, etc. The removable basket is particularly sizeable and came in really handy and has a zippered lid meaning you can keep all your belongings safe and dry. Obviously the more you store, the heavier it gets, however, we pushed it with 3 children and bags and bottles for a whole day out and the manoeuvrability wasn’t affected at all.

What’s in the box?

W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon

2 x bench seats

Canopy poles and fabric

Pull strap

Rear basket

What are the additional accessories that you can buy?

Two-in-one phone and cup holder

Parent console featuring 4 x insulated cup holders

Car seat adaptor

Snack tray

Cargo net

All weather floor mat

Collapsible shopping basket

Raincover

Pull handle

Travel cover

What did you think of the packaging of this product?

The wagon came packaged in a large cardboard box with all smaller components contained within a large plastic bag layer and then in smaller bags or cardboard boxes. The cardboard, which makes up the main bulk of the packaging is recyclable, although there is a very large plastic bag insert in the box as well as smaller bags for little parts, which could be swapped for paper bags or recyclable wrapping.

What are the repair options if it breaks?

When you purchase a new, unused WonderFold Wagon from www.wonderfoldwagon.co.uk or an authorised seller, your product is covered under its 1-year manufacturer warranty. The warranty covers parts that affect the functionality of the product. You can also buy a number of replacement parts, from straps and seats to wheels and carriage fabric to ensure the wagon never gets old.

Now you’ve tested it, what would you have wanted to know before purchasing the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon?

The size and weight of it. If I were attempting to lift this into a car boot by myself, I would struggle and so this would need to be a consideration. As the parent of a child with additional needs, it would be very handy to know about the discount for families with SEN. The Wonderfold website offers a 15% discount for parents of children with special needs.

Who would the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon be most useful for?

Every time I used it I had so many remarks on it from friends, family and even strangers. I joked to my husband that it would be a great way for single dads to attract a new girlfriend as we had so many women coming up to us and asking about it.

I think it would be perfect for people with multiples, those who have several children close in age, or childminders who need to take a small group of children out and about. I had my first 2 daughters 15 months apart and it would have been a great alternative to a double buggy, which can be very wide and tricky to steer.

My middle daughter also has additional needs, which we found it a godsend for as it provided her with a safe space away from crowds. She was able to relax in there while we were out and about for the day, she could sit in there comfortably and happily for hours, or even lie down in it and have a nap.

Is the Wonderfold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon worth the money?

With an RRP of £1,249.99 investing in one of these wagons isn’t done on a whim as parting with over a grand in cash is a hefty investment for most. However, I would honestly say that it’s one of the best and most useful set of wheels I’ve had for our 3 girls and I think it’s longevity, durability and versatility means its worth every penny.

Furthermore, the weight limit goes up to 136kg and so you can expect it to last a long time and you’ll be able to push your children around in it way past toddlerhood. I might even ask my husband to give me a lift back from the pub in it next time!

Where can I buy the WonderFold W4 Luxe Stroller Wagon?

It is available from Amazon, Ebebek and WonderFold.

MadeForMums verdict

I absolutely loved this product. We've started referring to it as the 'Hummer' as it is so big and bulky yet luxurious at the same time. One of our children is autistic and found it really helpful as it acted as a 'safe space' for her to relax if we were out on a busy day out. To be honest, it’s been a bit of a game-changer for our family days out. Yes, it is very expensive, but with such a high weight limit and plenty of space, it's not something your family will grow out of quickly.

Find out what our parent tester Lyndsey and her two daughters thought of the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon.

German brand Hauck has added to its range of robust pushchairs and sturdy travel cots, with this clever pull-along wagon. Perfect for days at the beach, picnics and camping trips, the Eco Mobil wagon can fit two children (over the age of 2) and carries a maximum weight of 50kg.

With comfy seats for the kids, a pull-along handle and an essential parking brake, the wagon is ideal for your first family festival. Coming in at £259.95, it's certainly a considered investment and it does take up a lot of room, but if you love heading out on family trips this could be worth every penny – especially when it comes to saving tired legs at the end of the day.

About our parent tester

Lynsey, a journalist and mum-of-3, put the Hauck Eco Mobil to the test with the help of her 2 youngest children, Olive, 6 and Ivy, who is 3. Lynsey, from Kent, also has a son Jacob, 9, and the family often makes trips to the beach and go for picnics.

What were your first impressions of the wagon?

Amazing! The children were so excited when this arrived and couldn't wait to go out in it. It appears good quality and was incredibly easy to put together and pull along. Even my 6 year old could pull the buggy with ease. It's a super fun addition for days out and it made life so much easier than taking multiple pushchairs, bikes and scooters if you had a little way to walk.

How easy was it to build the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon?

Incredibly easy. The hardest part was putting on the wheels, but that only took 5 or 10 minutes. You simply unfold some struts inside and it was ready for action. The struts that hold the sun canopy were a bit fiddly to put in but even then, it only took a couple of minutes.

How easy or difficult was it to fold the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon?

Very easy, but it isn't very compact and still takes up the majority of a car boot even when folded.

How big is the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon when folded?

There's no hiding the fact that this is a big bit of kit and you will need a decent amount of room to store it. The dimensions even when it is folded up are L97cm x W75cm x H34cm. The sheer size of this product was the biggest downside. Most of us just wouldn't have the room to store it. I was very relived that the wagon managed to fit in the boot of my car when folded.

How is the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon to pull, push and steer?

Incredibly easy! I had 2 children in this aged 6 and 3 who would both feel heavy in a pushchair, but they were as light as a feather in this. Even my 6-year-old daughter could pull her little sister in it. It worked best on flat paths and promenades but we managed it on a fairly flat country park path too and it worked well on soil.

A slight slope was fine, but I didn't feel safe pulling this up big hills or going up and down big kerbs. Smaller raised kerbs were ok, but even that was a bit tough going. The steering was easy for such a big contraption.

Is the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon suitable for busy areas?

Because of its size – L124cm x W75cm x H110cm with the drawbar – you wouldn't want to pull this around a busy city, but it was fine on a busy seaside promenade where there was plenty of room for people to pass. We got lots of admiring glances!

What's the quality like?

The Hauck Eco Mobil wagon feels incredibly good quality and durable. It's certainly a higher end product and would last your family for years. The steel frame is black and strong and, after several uses, it hasn't marked. There is a sturdy plastic base and the fabric sides were strong. I liked the design and I like the colour of the fabric, which didn't get dirty too quickly.

How do you rate the handle?

The removable sprung drawbar handle has a soft grip and easy to pull. It didn't hurt my hand and was very comfortable to hold.

What do you think of the seating in the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon for your children?

The girls seemed very comfortable. In fact, they didn't want to get out! The cushions were soft and wiped up well, which was important as the kids are sitting in the cart with dirty shoes. There was plenty of room for the 2 girls to sit comfortably and it was very spacious. I wish it had been big enough to sit 3 children. I did like the removable sun canopy, which I can image would be handy for hot days. There are no straps or harnesses if you would prefer to strap your child in but the low centre of gravity means it is unlikely to tip, not of course impossible though!

What are the wheels like on the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon?

The wheels were easy to fix and the rear ones are removable. We did manage to pull the cart over a pebble beach, though this was quite hard work.

How good are the brakes?

The brakes were really effective, easy to apply and provided extra security when we needed to stop.

How do you rate the storage in the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon?

With 2 kids in the wagon, there wasn't much extra room for anything other than a small-ish bag or backpack. You wouldn't notice the extra weight particularly but the girls didn't want bags on their feet. There were no extra side pockets or compartments, which might have made a good addition.

What's in the box?

Wagon base and fabric cover

4 x wheels

Sun canopy

Brake

Drawbar pull handle

Nuts and bolts

What is the packaging like?

It came in a VERY big box with one smaller box inside. There was plastic packaging too, but it was all easily recycled.

Who is the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon best suited for?

A family with 2 small children who don't want to take 2 pushchairs or carry kids and all the belongings to the beach. This would allow you to put almost everything in the one cart.

Is the Hauck Eco Mobil wagon worth the money?

There is no denying that at £259.95 this is an expensive product, but if you are a family who struggles on outings to the beach or park with double buggies, bags and backpacks, this could be the answer.
MadeForMums verdict

The Eco Mobil was super fun for the kids. It was easy to build, easy to pull and it made family days out with lots of kids and bags so much easier. I loved how easy it was to pull. You didn't notice the weight of your load at all, even when pulling for a good distance. It was so easy to pull even my 6-year-old daughter could manage to take her sister for rides. And my 9-year-old son definitely wasn't too big to want a turn. Yes, it is pricey and a bit of a luxury for most families, but if you are a family who often has days out and takes lots of kit, this would be perfect for you. The biggest downside was the sheer size of it. Not everyone would have room to store this.

How easy was it to build the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair?

It took me around 10 minutes to build the pushchair. While the instructions were relatively clear, the images to attach the wheels weren’t quite big enough and it took me t2 attempts to attach them properly. The foam handlebar is wrapped in cardboard and tape and so you must be very careful removing this with any sharp objects to avoid damage.

How do you fold and unfold the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair?

To fold the Hauck Runner 2 down, you need to push the hood all the way back and recline the seat all the way down before starting, which I found quite frustrating to begin with – although I've since gotten quicker due to practice. After reclining, you simply pull upwards on the 2 looped finger holes down the side of the frame and push the whole buggy downwards. There is a catch on one side to lock in the fold.

I was quite pleased that you don't need to remove wheels or accessories, such as the footmuff and rain cover, when folding, as I’ve had to do before with other off-roading pushchairs.

It couldn't be easier to unfold; unhook the latch and lift the handlebar upwards until it ‘clicks’ into place.

How compact is the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair when folded?

Despite being quite large when in use – H126cm x W59cm x D110cm – I was impressed with how compact the Hauck 2 Runner fold was, measuring H87cm x W59cm x D47cm, similar to the Out 'n' About GT and Thule Urban Glide 3.

Obviously, a 3-wheeler all-terrain pushchair is never going to be as compact as a normal stroller, but for a pushchair with such large tyres, I am quite impressed that it doesn’t take up too much room in my SUV car boot (Honda CR-V). You can very quickly remove the large rear wheels making it even more compact if you were to be travelling further distances..

Is the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair heavy?

In a word, yes. The buggy is heavy, weighing a hefty 11.1kg, which makes it tricky to lift into the car boot — you need a strong core! That said, it is still lighter than the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime 3-wheeler, weighing 12.3kg.

Is the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair self-standing when folded?

The pushchair self-stands when folded, but this means the handlebar touches the floor which has caused some scratches and mud on the handle for us. Just be aware!

How good is the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair to push and steer on different terrains?

This is one of the best pushchairs I’ve pushed and steered on multiple terrains. It’s so light to push and so easy to steer, you can even do so one-handed! Changing directions on mud or rocks was no issue for the Runner 2 (although not so much when pushing one-handed).

I have previously had a leading brand in the off-roading pushchair category and the Hauck Runner 2 offers a smoother drive. The front wheel swivels 360 degree, so turning tightly is no problem either.

It effortlessly glides over kerbs, rocks and roots, although on our more heavy off-road walks I did get the front wheel stuck in between a root before lifting the front wheel over it. It’s very easy to push through mud too, although the tyres do seem to like to cling to sticky mud.

What do you think of the handle on the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair?

The adjustable handle has a great range so anyone from my 5-year-old to my 6ft partner can push the Hauck Runner 2. The handle cover is made from quite cheap foam, which has dented easily and I can imagine it will tear easily too. I am going to invest in a handlebar cover to protect it and make it a little more comfortable to hold.

I like the width of the handle, and that you can easily push the buggy with 2 hands or one, no matter where on the handle you’re holding.

What do you think of the Hauck Runner 2's seat unit?

The seat is bucket-like, large and roomy. Lily (13 months) is very comfortable in it and, as a test, we also tried my 5-year-old (20kgs) in the seat – it comfortably fit him in too, which reassured me that it will be a long-lasting pushchair, worthy of investment.

Can you recline the seat on the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair?

Yes. The seat unit reclines using a toggle strap at the back of the seat — this is extremely easy to adjust even when Lily is in the seat. I am impressed with how flat it lays, meaning I am happy that she is safe when sleeping in it too. It also sits almost upright, so it’s perfect for a range of needs. The only frustrating thing is that you do have to recline the seat all the way down in order to fold the pushchair properly.

What's the hood like on the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair?

The hood doesn’t come down very far, which has meant the sun does get in my daughter's eyes often. The hood is UPF50 though – a feature the Hauck Runner 1 doesn’t have. It has a thin reflective strip across the hood, but because we walk on unlit roads at dusk, I have added more reflective stickers to the frame and front wheel of the pushchair.

The hood stays in place nicely and feels sturdy, and is very easy to use. When the seat is upright, it isn’t possible to see your child through the hood; if the seat is a little more reclined, there is a large zippable window to view your child from the rear. There are also air vent peepholes to the sides, which I haven’t got round to using yet thanks to the British winter!

What are the wheels like on the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair?

I am extremely impressed with the air-filled tyres and just how well they can glide over different terrains. The 2 back wheels are nice and large, and the front wheel is a good size too. You can easily remove the back 2 wheels if needed for a more compact fold.

I have used the pushchair on a broad range of terrain and haven’t yet needed to put any more air in the tyres, which is great. The front wheel easily locks and unlocks with the flip of a switch lock. I looked at other reviews on the pushchair and a couple had mentioned the front wheel wobbles sometimes — I've found that it only does this if the switch hasn’t been engaged correctly.

How good are the brakes on the Hauck Runner 2 pushchair?

When applying the brakes on the Hauck Runner 2, extra focus is needed to ensure they have engaged properly. The pushchair sometimes needs a little wiggle for the brake bar to engage into the wheel cogs. However, once applied correctly, they are fantastic and hold the pushchair very well.

What do you think of the basket on the Hauck Runner 2?

The pushchair's basket is large enough to fit my son’s winter coat and school bag, the nappy bag and a picnic blanket. The sides of the basket are mesh, so I have found when pushing the pushchair in wet weather, everything inside the basket is then covered in muddy water!

The basket also hangs very low to the ground, so when pushing it over rocks or taller grass, it drags along the ground. Unfortunately, I can’t see it lasting very long (maybe a year or 2) before you would need to replace it.

I’m no longer getting stuck and having to carry a pushchair over every bump — using it is an absolute breeze and it has been well worth the investment. I think it's excellent value, especially when you compare it to similar 3-wheel all-terrain pushchairs that are at least double the price.

MadeForMums verdict

If you're looking for a reliable, all-terrain buggy that will glide over tricky ground with ease, the Hauck Runner 2 is a really great option. Although you may have to deal with a very low basket, heavy folded buggy and a sometimes-fiddly brake, the comfort the buggy provides for its passenger as well as its superb off-road handling makes it a fantastic offering for families who love to explore the great outdoors, without spending too long lifting the buggy over mud and bumps!

Thule have a reputation for manufacturing quality and practical pushchairs for families who lead an active lifestyle. I have always hankered after test-driving a Thule 3-wheel pushchair, as they are known as the cream of the crop in the pushchair jogging community.

Practicality and quality are both undeniable with this pushchair. The floaty light, one-handed push and the ability to steer and turn on a sixpence with such little effort made handling a breeze. Pushing through forests, on gravel tracks, over grassy fields and even in the shops makes this pushchair a, perhaps unexpected, genuine all-rounder.

10 of the best all-terrain pushchairs

The one-handed fold, easy-to-use brake, huge seat and super cosy bassinet are all features to shout about. This pushchair is perfect for parents who want to get outdoors, running or walking, and take their little one with them. Yes, the price point is higher than many other 3-wheelers on the market, but with the Urban Glide 3 you get what you pay for. It is built to last, super easy to use and absolutely of the highest quality.

What were your first impressions of the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair?

When the Urban Glide 3 rocked up on my doorstep, I could tell it was going to be a substantial piece of kit, purely by the size of the boxes it arrived in. All setup and ready to roll, the Urban Glide 3 absolutely has a presence — honestly, it was far bigger and more substantial than I expected. That being said, every inch of the pushchair was clearly well thought out and the superb build quality was evident from the get-go, really living up to the Thule brand name.

How easy is it to build?

It didn't take me long to get the Urban Glide 3 ready for its first outing. The main pushchair arrived neatly in one box, with minimal single-use packaging. As I was using the pushchair with my 3-month-old baby, I set the pushchair up with the collapsible carrycot (£249).

The pushchair pops up easily and the front wheel is already in-situ. The rugged-looking rear wheels popped on in a jiffy, and the bassinet unfolded via a handy sliding lever on its base. All-in-all, the set-up was very quick (around 15 minutes) and very intuitive. The manual is easy to follow and very visual, which was perfect seeing as I only had limited time to set the pushchair up between baby’s naps!

How does the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair compare to the Urban Glide 2?

Thule has made lots of changes to this new and updated Urban Glide model. The pushchair is actually almost 0.5kg heavier than the Urban Glide 2 but this is hardly noticeable, aside from when you're lifting the pushchair in and out of the car. This increased weight is a small price to pay for the enlarged shopping basket capacity and the brand-new, super-smooth brake system.

The front footrest and bumper above the front swivel wheel have also been redesigned. The rubber bumper means that the plastic isn’t scuffing on the ground when you fold the pushchair – a small but very useful feature that we didn’t know we needed until we used the pushchair on a regular basis.

On the previous model, all of the buttons and levers that operated any of the functions were blue. On this model, those buttons and levers are now a discrete grey colour which is far more aesthetically pleasing if you are using the pushchair for day-to-day life as well as for running and hiking.

On top of all of the above changes, the fabrics of the Urban Glide 3 have changed considerably from the Urban Glide 2 model. The new fabrics are sleek and smooth and perfect for wiping clean — inevitable when there is a toddler in the seat or you are walking off the beaten track!

What do you think of the Thule Urban Glide carrycot?

Although it needs to be bought separately at a cost of £250, the bassinet absolutely earned its keep for us. It was extra large, spacious and packed with features such as mesh breathable windows and a sun canopy that's incredibly easy to put up and down.

The mattress is made from breathable, natural fibres and it's so comfortable that we ended up also using it in the house for our baby’s naps. There are air vents in the hard base of the carrycot to allow a safe space for baby to sleep. There aren’t many 3-wheel all-terrain pushchairs that can be used with a full-sized carrycot so this was a huge draw for us. Our baby used the carrycot from 2 weeks old and is now 3 months old. She still has bundles of room in the carrycot and will no doubt stay in there for a long while.

By far the most nifty feature of the carrycot has to be the fact that it is 100% collapsible by just sliding the grey button on the base. The hard base of the carrycot makes it super easy to carry and move from car to car and car to house. It clips back up in a jiffy and clicks on and off the chassis with the use of the grey palm levers.

How do you fold the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair?

The folding mechanism is located underneath the calf rest of the pushchair and it is a simple pull-and-twist barrel lever. So many pushchairs that we have used have promised a ‘one-handed fold’ and this one really is achievable with one hand at the same time as holding your toddler on your hip. If you are using the pushchair with the bassinet, you need to remove that from the frame before folding. But with the seat unit in place, it is an all-in-one fold.

What is the Thule Urban Glide 3 like when it's folded?

Here’s our bugbear with the Urban Glide 3 — to put it simply, it’s huge when folded (88cm x 58cm x 31cm to be exact). Whilst the overall package might be quite flat and removing the wheels did help out a little, the pushchair still takes up a lot of space when folded. Parents with smaller cars may need to get creative when travelling with it. I drive a VW multivan and the boot is average depth. I managed just fine but I would definitely check measurements if you plan to transport the Urban Glide 3 in your car regularly.

How good is it to push and steer?

You will struggle to find contenders out there that will rival the smooth push of the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair. We used it as our main everyday pushchair as we tend to go off the beaten track quite a lot. On pavements and indoors, it pushes like butter. You can steer it on a sixpence with just one finger — no exaggeration. On rougher terrain, the 16-inch rear wheels come into play and drive the pushchair over rocks, tree roots and uneven grass with ease.

The option to lock the front single wheel also meant that there was never anywhere that we couldn’t go. One of our regular walks takes us over open fields and through woodland and there was never a moment when we felt there was a struggle to push, nor did we ever feel baby was jiggled about on the rough terrain. The excellent suspension and large air wheels are superb at absorbing the bumps from the rougher terrain. We live in a rural village with varied surfaces including gravel, cobbles and pavements with large kerbs — all of which were easy to handle and our little passenger never woke once whilst we were strolling during nap times.

How well does the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair work on public transport?

Whilst using the Urban Glide 3, we took a trip on the train, just a few stops up the track to Edale to walk on Kinder Scout. Although the pushchair is effortless to manoeuvre, it is long and wide, so it wasn't the easiest to fit onto a busy train. I ended up removing my baby from the seat and my husband folded the pushchair to try and make it easier to fit down the gangway and through the doors. All in all, it wasn't easy to travel with and it’s not something we would recommend doing again. The pushchair did however redeem itself by joining us on a glorious hike up Kinder Scout so that we could enjoy the great outdoors with baby joining us.

What’s the chassis like?

Thule are renowned for their ability to make products that are built to last. The Urban Glide 3 certainly gave us the impression that it would serve us for multiple children. The powder-coated matt black chassis was super durable and after being lugged up and down mountains, through the woods and in and out of the car on a day-to-day basis, it still remains as good as new with very few scratches or signs of wear. There is the odd scuff on the nose of the pushchair above the front single wheel, but this is to be expected and these are only noticeable on close inspection. The chassis is super sleek to look at and is definitely a head-turner. Even though the pushchair is as light as a feather to steer and handle, the chassis is quite heavy and cumbersome to lift. It’s definitely not something you would want to be lifting post-c-section.

What do you think of the seat unit on the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair?

The hammock-style seat unit on the Thule Urban Glide 3 is extremely roomy. The actual seat weight limit for the seat unit is 22kg — to put this into perspective, my average height 6-year-old weighs 20.5kg and she was able to ride in the seat of the pushchair with ease, and it still remained easy to push and manoeuvre. The tall and wide seat has a really comfortable padded harness which is easily adjusted via simple sliders to suit babies and children of all sizes.

The seat recline is operated by a strap adjustment on the back of the seat. It is easy to use by just pulling the toggle, but it does require two hands to operate smoothly. If you pull the toggle quite tightly, you can achieve a really upright position, which toddlers and younger children will love. The seat lies almost flat, on a very slight incline, making it super comfortable for babies from 6 months and young children to nap in. We loved the added features such as the elasticated cup holders in the seat — great for tucking away snacks for your little one to enjoy whilst you are on the go. The smooth fabrics were very comfortable against the baby's skin and the seat liner (additional extra) really made the seat super comfy so that we could be out walking all day.

How do you rate the buggy handle on the Thule Urban Glide 3?

The handlebar has a unique shape, with the handbrake barrel in the centre. We used the handbrake more than we anticipated and it was excellent when walking downhill to enable us to steady the pushchair and stop it from running away from us.. The grey buttons on either side of the handlebar are pressed in simultaneously to adjust the height.

The handlebar sits in your palm really comfortably and is covered in dense foam for a firm grip. Although the handlebar looks very smart, I couldn't help but think that perhaps a leather-covered handle might fit in with the sleek aesthetic of this pushchair a bit better?

What’s the hood like?

The hood was our all-time favourite feature of the Urban Glide 3. We have never seen a larger extendable hood. It completely covers the seat when fully extended and even has ventilated mesh windows to allow air to get through to baby, along with the UPF 50 sun protection factor, which was perfect for the mini heatwave we experienced in July. There is also a transparent waterproof viewing window which we used to check in on baby without waking them — the cover for the peekaboo window also closes and opens without the use of velcro, which meant there was no waking the baby with the sound of ripping velcro as with our other all-terrain pushchair!

What are the wheels like on the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair?

For an all-terrain pushchair, the wheels were everything we expected and more. All 3 wheels are air filled, making the pushchair super light to handle. Although this does carry the risk of punctures, thankfully this is something that we never encountered. The tyres are tough and durable and on top of performing brilliantly, the stylish silver and black rims definitely add to the sleek and stylish aesthetic.

The grey, rubber-covered spring-loaded buttons in the centre of each rear wheel make them easy to pop on and off. We removed the wheels each time we took the pushchair in the car, it really is very simple and quick to do. The front wheel was easy to lock in place by twisting the padlock lever located behind the footplate. We also had a play with the tensioner which allows you to alter the tracking of the front wheel, just in case you run on a regular basis. We just used the pushchair for weekend park runs and it performed brilliantly and always had other parents asking to try it out!

How good are the brakes?

A reliable brake system is a must for a running or all-terrain stroller. The footbrake on the Thule Urban Glide 3 is located next to the right-hand rear wheel, and it never skipped a beat. It was easy to slip on and off in a hurry and it always felt safe and secure. The handbrake and wrist tether also came in very handy for walking on undulating terrains. It gave us that peace of mind that the pushchair would never escape our grip and the ability to control the speed of the pushchair when walking downhill made walks every bit more enjoyable.

How do you rate the basket on the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair?

The covered basket is the unsung hero of the Urban Glide 3. The basket size is much larger than other all-terrain pushchairs and with the ability to hold 7kg, it rivals many other multi-purpose travel systems too. We loved the smaller zip pocket on the back of the basket and used it for keys and phone whilst we were out and about.

The whole basket also has a zip cover which absolutely saved the day when we were caught in downpours (there were many!) and also stopped our bits and bobs falling out of the basket when we folded the pushchair up. When out and about, the basket was always easily accessible from the back and sides and we were able to keep coats and necessities in it with ease.

What’s in the box?

Pushchair including seat, hood and wheels

We also tested the cup holder and seat liner which arrived separately in their own boxes. And we tested the carrycot and mattress, which you have to buy separately.

What are the additional accessories that you can buy?

There are many accessories available to complement the Urban Glide 3. Unfortunately, the pushchair does not come with a raincover included in the box and to us this is a necessity given our great British climate. Other accessories include:

Thule bassinet (£249.99)

Car seat adapters (£49.99)

Bumper bar (£34.99)

Raincover (£49.99)

Organiser (£59.99)

Snack tray (£49.99)

Mesh cover (£34.99)

Bottle cage (£19.99)

Footmuff (£139.99)

Cup holder (£24.99)

Seat liner (£49.99)

Changing backpack (£129.99)

Changing bag (£89.99)

Seat liner (£39.99)

How did you find the packaging?

Being an outdoor brand we expected the packaging to be minimal in term of single-use plastic and sellotape. Packaging was simple and kept to a minimum but there was still a bit of non-recyclable foam protecting wheel spindles and handlebars, etc. The boxes however were sturdy enough to keep and re-use to store the pushchair in if needed.

What are the sustainability and repair options like for the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair?

It isn’t made clear in the instructions or accompanying materials just how sustainable the production of the Urban Glide 3 is. We had hoped that the use of recycled materials such as recycled plastics to create the fabrics would have been part and parcel of the pushchair and ethos of the brand. What we can say is that the pushchair will absolutely serve you for many children from birth up to 22kg thanks to its well-thought-out design and build quality.

Maintenance of the pushchair is pretty simple, checking the air levels in the tyres and keeping joints greased and dirt-free. We found the wheels very easy to pop off and spray with the hose after very mucky walks. Spare parts are really easily sourced via the official Thule website and on top of this the pushchair comes complete with a 2-year guarantee.

If you register the Thule product upon purchase, you can use the guarantee to repair damage caused by wear and tear, as long as the product has not been misused. This gave us great peace of mind knowing that the pushchair had longevity and in essence, free repairs for two years!

Now you’ve tested it, what would you have wanted to know before purchasing the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair?

Having used the Urban Glide 3 for the past few months, we would have most definitely wanted to know how heavy it is to lift from place to place and how large it is when folded. Even though the pushchair is exceptionally nimble on even the roughest of terrains, it is in all honestly quite cumbersome to carry and lift.

Who would the Thule Urban Glide 3 pushchair be most useful for?

For families who love to head out on walks and want to explore places off the beaten track, this pushchair is an excellent option. That being said, the sleek lines and super smooth fabrics absolutely do not look out of place on urban streets. This pushchair is definitely suited to families who walk from A to B on a regular basis rather than those who plan to put their pushchair in and out of a car boot or go on public transport on a regular basis.

Is the Thule Urban Glide 3 worth the money?

With a price tag of £749.99, the Urban Glide 3 is super pricey and is right up there with the fashionable and sought after bands such as Bugaboo and Cybex. That’s not forgetting that the bassinet is an additional £249.99 and the essential (but not included) raincover is £49.99. That’s an overall starting price of £1,050 before you purchase any additional accessories – that's more than most people's monthly rent or mortgage!

However, we can’t deny that even if the price is high, you get what you pay for in terms of longevity and quality. Even with the high price, I would argue that families who spend a lot of time outdoors and who plan to use the pushchair as their child grows, or for multiple children, will definitely get their money's worth from the Urban Glide 3.

Where can I buy the Thule Urban Glide 3?

It is available from John Lewis, Natural Baby Shower, Very

MadeForMums verdict:

Overall, our experiences and adventures with the Thule Urban Glide 3 have been positive. Our little passenger was always comfortable and happy and the well-designed and very well-built features have withstood walks in forests, fields and on rocky mountain paths. The extra large hood, large seat, air-filled tyres and supersized zip-covered basket were a total winner with us and they suited our outdoor family life brilliantly.

It doesn’t matter who was in the driving seat of the Urban Glide 3, they all commented on how smooth and effortless it was to push, even when fully laden and going over undulating ground. Even on shopping trips, the sleek looks of the pushchair were admired by urban-dwelling parents and the pushchair was certainly not out of place on the city streets. Our advice would be to watch out for the large fold size and wide rear-wheel base if you plan to transport the pushchair on a car or on public transport on a regular basis.

Ickle Bubba's new Venus Prime Jogging Stroller is a high-performance sports pushchair that offers quality features at an affordable price, earning it the Gold award for 'Best All-Terrain Pushchair' in the MadeForMums Awards 2023. This is one of the hallmarks of the Ickle Bubba brand, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year. Founders Fran and Veronica Vaughan recognised a need for durable baby products that don't break the bank. Retailing at £319 for a bundle that includes a newborn cocoon, the Venus Prime provides excellent value without scrimping on design.

The Venus Prime is marketed as durable and ready for adventure, with three thick-tread wheels that allow you to traverse all terrains, as well as jogging with your baby from when they are 9 months old. Additional safety features include a lockable front wheel, wrist strap and extendable hood with SPF50+ protection. The bundle also includes a rain cover, a pump for the tyres and a cosy cocoon to keep newborns snug.

Tested by:

Alice Bull put the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller through its paces with her 1 month old. She was helped by her older children (10 years and 12 years) and their granny, who loves running. They live by the sea on the south coast where the terrain is mostly smooth – although they did have the odd bumpy field to traverse at their local park. Fellow parent tester (and runner) Michaela tested the stroller with their 10 month old baby.

What were your first impression of the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller?

Good! I thought the black chassis, seat and newborn cocoon make the pram look classy and stylish. The black cover also gives baby a welcome 'black-out' effect, so he drifts off to sleep quicker. Paired with the grey hood, this is a good-looking and quality-feeling pram. The packaging is fairly standard – sturdy and effective, much like the buggy itself.

How easy is the Venus Prime Jogging Stroller to build?

Unpacking the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime took a super-speedy 15 minutes, and the instructions (both guide pictures and text) were simple to follow. It took three hours to do the same with the carrycot pram I’ve otherwise been using so this was a treat! All that was required was to simply click the chassis into place, and add the supports to the newborn nest.

How easy is it to take the carrycot on and off the stroller?

The newborn nest clips into the pushchair with straps so it is a little fiddly to remove and you definitely cannot do this with your baby inside. If you're happy and have the space for your baby to stay asleep inside the stroller, this won't matter. The nest is not to be used for overnight sleeping, anyway, as advised by the manufacturer.

Does the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller have a good carrycot?

My 5-week-old baby sleeps through all our walks in the comfy newborn cocoon, which is padded, breathable, cosy and warm and has an all-weather zipped apron included. He enjoys his naps in the Venus so much he continues to sleep even after we're home. I can’t comment on how long it’ll last as we’re not there yet, but I imagine it’ll suit him until he’s ready to sit up and transition to the chair. The newborn cocoon is narrower than most traditional bassinet prams, though, so larger babies may struggle if they're not quite ready to sit up but are too big for the cocoon.

How easy is it to fold the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller?

View Green Video on the source website

The buggy collapses in one quick motion using the black buttons on the side of the chassis. This was a little niggle for me, initially, as I found it tricky to collapse and erect the Venus. I find when you’re in the sleep depravation fug of newborn life it’s easier for the buttons on a pram to be a different colour so they easily stand out when you need to find them in a hurry, whereas the Venus’s are the same colour as the chassis.

How compact is the buggy when folded?

The buggy is fairly compact (around the size of a Bugaboo Bee) when folded. If you're using the newborn cocoon this must be removed first, meaning it is essentially folded in two parts.

I could easily pop the Venus in the boot of my car (an Audi Q3) without removing the bar or wheels.

How easy is the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller to push and steer?

I can't fault the steering of the Venus jogger. On our walks across the local bumpy football field, it handles the terrain with ease. The pram feels very secure in my hands and there's a handy wrist strap for extra reassurance. My 5-week-old happily sleeps through the bumps.

Steering on uneven pavements and flat/tarmac surfaces is just as seamless, with the front wheel pivoting with minimal effort – even when navigating with one hand (with a coffee in the other!). Kerbs are handled with ease and I haven't experienced any of the front wheel wobble I’ve seen before with other pushchairs.

Can you run or jog with the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime stroller?

The Venus is a jogger buggy, although for safety the manufacturer recommends you wait until your baby is 9 months old before you go faster than a walk – so we remained at a brisk walking pace while my baby was in situ. However, testing the buggy empty on a couple of practice jogs both myself and my mum found the running-speed handling and comfort to be fantastic.

Fellow parent tester Michaela, who tested this with their 10 month old baby, says: “The buggy was very easy to set up and use, also taking up hardly any space in the car boot or at home. We have used this buggy for everyday use as well as for running and enjoy pushing it as it is super smooth on all terrains. I will 100% be recommending it to anyone looking for one either in the running community or for general use.”

What's the chassis like on the stroller?

It's strong, durable and, so far, hasn't scratched easily. As far as joggers go, I would say it’s an attractive and stylish design with a minimal monochrome appearance.

How do you rate the handle on the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller?

The handlebar is easily adjustable and suits both the tall members of my family (my husband, at 6 foot 3 inches), and the smallest (my 10-year old). It’s comfy and easy to hold, feeling durable and solid in my hands.

What do you think of the seat unit and hood?

One negative I found with the Venus Prime is the carrycot/seat orientation is not switchable, so your child will always be facing outwards. I would always prefer to have my baby facing me. That said, there’s a window in the hood that allows you to peek and talk to your baby whenever you want to.

The hood is easy to use, sturdy, and covers baby well; it has a window in the back so you can check on your little one as you're walking. And, my favourite feature, it has a handy zipped pocket in the hood, just the right size for your keys/phone/wallet.

I can’t comment on how well the seat suits a toddler as I didn't have a small child to test it with.

What are the wheels like on the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller?

Exactly as marketed! The wheels are large, have thick treads and feel really high quality and ready for anything – plus, I really like the fact the treads are in the shape of hearts when looked at from my pushing vantage! As they’re air-filled, the pram comes with a tyre pump if needed (though mine have remained well-inflated throughout the testing period).

And how good are the brakes?

I found the brake took a little while to get used to as it was stiff on its initial few uses, but once I did it was easy to flip the mechanism on and off with my foot and it felt very safe and secure. It didn’t get in the way when walking or jogging.

Does the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller have a good basket?

The basket on the Venus is surprisingly roomy and carries all the essential (and non-essential!) baby bits you'd need for a day out. Nothing fell out of it when in use, yet it was easy to reach in and out via the back of the buggy.

What's in the box?

The stroller chassis and seat

Co-ordinated hood and footmuff

Newborn nest

Tyre pump

Full-length rain cover

Do you have to buy a lot of additional extras?

No! The bundle includes everything you need. A parasol is available to buy from the manufacturer priced at £15 (it is compatible with all Ickle Bubba pushchairs), however, the hood included offers excellent coverage and SPF50+ protection. With the caveat that I tested the buggy during a soggy (but occasionally sunny) British winter, I'd say the parasol would likely be surplus to requirement.

Is the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller good value for money?

Very! I think £319 is excellent value for the appearance, benefits and usage this stroller provides. It would last well as either an everyday or jogger buggy, from newborn all the way through to toddler.

How does it compare to similar pushchairs?

Where can I buy the Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller?

It is available from Ickle Bubba, Jolly Tots and Lily Cuddles

MadeForMums verdict

The Ickle Bubba Venus Prime Jogging Stroller is a stylish sports pushchair that delivers a high-quality performance at an affordable price. It may not suit everyone as a primary buggy, due to the limited size of the newborn nest and the fact baby is always facing outwards. However, it is a nimble, lightweight, versatile stroller that can be used for exercise and for everyday local walks, making it a good choice for active parents who don't want to compromise on comfort, quality or price.
